Geoff Capell
The Olympic Club
Inducted as a Player in 1997
by Geoff Capell
Geoff Capell learned to play handball on a small four wall court at Holy Names Grade School in the Sunset District of San Francisco. His biggest influence on his life at that time was his championship handball playing father Jeff Senior.
He then joined the Olympic Club as a junior member on a swimming membership, but lost it because he was always sneaking up to the handball courts. After high school he went to Cal Poly and played handball there, along with water polo and swimming. After graduation he located in San Jose and played at the local YMCA. His real break was when he joined The Olympic Club, teaming up with his brother Jay where they won almost every local Open Championship. He then entered the masters division where he won five national championships with his partner Joe McDonald. He is best known for his conditioning, good off hand and back wall shots.
Congratulations on your induction into the Northern California Handball Hall Of Fame!
