Don was introduced to the game of handball At Springfield College. As a football, basketball, and lacrosse player he took a handball course. Don's handball career continued while in the Air Force during the Korean War then continued at the University Of New Mexico while getting a Masters Degree in Administration. In 1958 he settled in California where he took a job as Athletic Director at Berkeley High School. He played handball at the Berkeley Y and at Cal.
Don lead the way in getting eight four wall handball courts built at Berkeley High School a mighty feet indeed. Along with teaching the game of handball to many beginners, in 1975 he helped organize the Northern California Handball Association that is in existence today. Some people refer to him as the father of the NCHA. He was a great organizer and ran many tournament is the Northern California Area.
