Al has a long history of handball contributions. For over twenty years he has been floor manager for the oldest tournament on the west coast The San Jose Open. He worked the very first one. Another hall of famer Bill Davis grabbed him and assigned him to posting scores and getting the guys ready to play. He then moved up to floor management.

Al originated, publicized, organized, and managed the San Jose YMCA's All-Masters Singles Handball Tournament and ran it for thirteen years. It was a very popular and well attended tournament in the area. Al always took advantage of all opportunities to promote handball as a sport and a healthy life to young students while a San Jose public school principal and instructor.

Congratulations on your induction into the Northern California Handball Hall of Fame.
