The Northern California Handball Association (NCHA) fosters the development of handball in Northern California and is the Regional governing body of the the United States Handball Association.

The NCHA sponsors the annual Regional Handball Tournament, supports player development through monetary and coaching support for junior and college players, maintains the NCHA Hall of Fame and sponsors the annual Hall of Fame Tournament at the Olympic Club, and publishes a bi-monthly newsletter,The Scoop.

Consider making an additional contribution as a Booster to help support our player development programs.

Juniors -- Player Development

The NCHA's primary goal is to encourage and support new handball players. Junior programs provide boys and girls with equipment, coaching, and opportunities to play, including travel subsidies to state and national tournaments. The NCHA also supports inter-collegiate handball, through travel assistance to the annual Collegiate National Tournament.

To encourage youth handball, the NCHA organizes play days at various clubs. These provide an opportunity for young players to have a full day of handball, including instruction, competition (typically a round-robin tournament), as well as hospitality. For information about upcoming dates and locations, check the calendar.

Junior and College players can join the NCHA for a nominal $5 per year, and receive our newsletter and reduced tournament entry fees.

Northern California fields college handball teams from:

We are hoping to establish another college program in the Bay area. Students and faculty interested in establishing a handball club are encouraged to contact the NCHA.

NCHA Board

The NCHA's Board and Officers meet six times per year to oversee the programs and allocate funds. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the even month, at various clubs.

Boosters

The NCHA is able to provide a high level of monetary support for player development because of our Boosters. In addition to their membership in the NCHA, these generous individuals make contributions earmarked directly for our junior and collegiate player development programs.

Newsletter: The Scoop

The Scoop is the newsletter of the Northern California Handball Association, and is published at least quarterly. It contains tournament results, a calendar of events, humorous articles and announcements. The Scoop is mailed to all members, and is also available on-line. The editors welcome your contributions to future issues.

Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame honors outstanding players and contributors from Northern California. A Special Committee is charged with identifying suitable candidates and nominating exceptional players and contributors. The committem meets each year during the Regional Tournament to consider candidates that have been suggested by the members. The committee nominates candidates to the NCHA Board, which then votes on their induction. The committee then arranges for biographies and speakers for the Banquet at the annual Hall of Fame Tournament.
